This weekend I graduated with my Masters Degree. It felt so good to walk across the stage and get the degree I have worked so hard for.
Later that night I friends over to celebrate. It was a perfect night, full of friends, drinks, and fun. Of course there was plenty of beer and wine flowing, but I also made a special treat.
Have you ever tried sweet tea vodka? If not, you absolutely must! I like to make half and half ‘s with sweet tea vodka and lemonade. It has become the regular summer drink for my friends and I. Be forewarned- they taste so good that you don’t even notice the alcohol.
Usually I buy a bottle of store brought sweet tea vodka and premade lemonade. While this is perfectly delicious, and easy, I wanted to change things up a bit. Sweet tea vodka is usually made with a ton of sugar, as is lemonade. I find that when I have really sugary drinks I get a bad hangover in the morning. I decided I would make my own sweet tea vodka and lemonade.
I was surprised how easy and delicious it was. And the next morning? Hang over free! Try it this weekend; it’s the perfect way to celebrate Memorial Day.
Sweet Tea Vodka and Lemonade/ Half and Half
- 2 cups good quality vodka
- 6 black tea bags
- ~1/4 cup agave nectar (I used a bit less)
- ¼ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 2 cups filtered water
- 3 tbls agave nectar (or more to taste)
In a large mason jar, steep tea bags in vodka for 3-4 hours. Remove bags, squeezing extra vodka out. Stir in agave nectar. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Mix lemonade ingredients, refrigerate.
To make drink, mix equal parts of vodka and lemonade, serve over ice. I make a big pitcher by combining all the vodka and all the lemonade, and keep ice on the side. Yum!
